All solid state laser source for tunable blue and ultraviolet radiation

Tunable blue and ultraviolet single mode laser light has been generated by frequency quadrupling the output of a semiconductor laser with two successive frequency doubling stages. The laser source is based on a commercial high power semiconductor laser near 972 nm which combines a low power single mode master oscillator with a high power amplifier. The doubling stages consist of nonlinear cryst...

Efficient tunable solid-state laser near 630 nm using sulforhodamine 640-doped silica gel.

Lasing is observed near 630 nm in a sulforhodamine 640-doped silica gel pumped by frequency-doubled radiation from a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. A conversion efficiency of 20% is obtained. The laser wavelength is tunable over 40 nm.

Tunable enhancement of high harmonic emission from laser solid interactions.

Coherent wake emission is a unique source of extreme ultraviolet radiation and has been recently shown to provide the basis for intense attosecond light. Here we present a novel scheme, supported by particle-in-cell simulations, demonstrating that enhancement and spectral control of the coherent wake emission signal can be achieved by modifying the interaction plasma density ramp. Significant t...

Advanced 2-micron Solid State Laser Developments

The development of a space-qualifiable 2-micron laser is beneficial to both the Exploration and Earth science technology goals. Recently, significant advancements in the laser development have been made under the Laser Risk Reduction Program. One Joule per pulse energy was achieved by a Master-Oscillator-Power-Amplifier (MOPA) system. To our knowledge, it is the highest recorded energy at this ...

All - Solid - State Four - Color Laser

This is the final report of a three-year, Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) project at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The goal of this project is to develop a solid state laser that produces visible output wavelengths, including the commercially compelling blue wavelength. The basic architecture of the device consists of a single-mode optical fiber doped with Pr3+ and ...
